Wine Regions and Wineries
Australian Wine Regions
The Australian wine industry is organised geographically into wine zones, wine regions and sub-regions. The Geographic Indications (GI) are integral to the marketing of wines and to protect the use of regional names. For a wine to carry a regional name, it must consist of at least 85% of fruit from that region. A Wine Australia website provides an informative look at Australian wine regions.
Australian Wineries
Australia has an abundance of vineyards and wineries which supply the domestic and export markets. An interactive map showing Australia’s wineries by state and then region can be accessed by clicking here.
